Pricing
There is one thing this page needs to say before it says anything else: you do not need it. TheQuoridor.com is free to play, the free part is not a trial, and nothing about the game itself sits behind a paywall. The paid plans below exist for two kinds of people — people who want the ads gone, and people who want to fund the site — and the rest of this page tries to describe them plainly enough that nobody buys something they thought was something else.
What free includes
Every game mode that matters. You can play any of the bots — the whole six-tier ladder plus the experimental neural engine, all listed on the bots page — play ranked or casual games against other people, or play a friend on one screen. None of it is metered and none of it is capped. You do not need an account to start, either: guest bot games and pass-and-play work signed out, and an account only becomes relevant when you want a rating and a game history that follows you.
The written library is free too, with no sign-in anywhere near it: the complete rules, the strategy series starting from the opening, a page for every bot beginning with Scout, and how the engine works.
The plans
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Removes ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | No |
| Ad-Free | $1.99 | $17.88 (works out to $1.49/mo) | Yes |
| Pro | $3.99 | $34.99 | Yes |
| Elite | $6.99 | $59.99 | Yes |
Yearly billing saves roughly a quarter compared with paying month by month. The Family plan is no longer sold: it was a single account billed at a family price, so it has been withdrawn rather than described as something it was not. If you already have it, nothing changes for you — it keeps the Pro level of access and removes ads for as long as you stay subscribed, and you manage or cancel it from the Shop like any other plan.
The Ad-Free plan
Ad-Free exists because it seemed wrong that removing advertising should require buying a bundle of features you never asked for. It costs $1.99 a month, or $17.88 a year — $1.49 a month when billed yearly — and it does exactly one thing: it removes every ad, on every page, in and out of games. That is the entire plan. Pro and Elite also remove ads as part of their bundles, so Ad-Free is simply the cheapest way to get that one thing if it is the only thing you want.
What paying gets you today, honestly
Here is everything a paid plan does today, and nothing it does not:
- Every paid plan removes all advertising and funds the site directly — the servers, the engine work, the writing.
- Pro adds unlimited Coach Mode (free accounts get one session a day, plus up to four more by watching an ad) and unlocks the premium boards, pawns and walls in the Shop.
- Elite adds everything in Pro plus the Elite-only cosmetics.
That is the whole list. Plans do not come with a monthly coin allowance, and the analysis board and the puzzle library are free for everyone, so neither is a reason to subscribe. When a plan gains something new, it goes on this page when you can use it, and not before.
Billing
Payments run on Stripe. Clicking subscribe sends you to Stripe's hosted checkout page, so your card details go to Stripe rather than to us. Every plan is a recurring subscription, monthly or yearly, and you can cancel anytime from your account. Subscribing does require an account, since the subscription has to attach to something: a signed-out visitor who clicks subscribe is asked to create one first.
If a payment is refunded or disputed with your bank, what it paid for is removed: a refunded subscription ends straight away (and is not charged again), and a refunded coin pack takes its coins back — along with, if those coins were already spent, the items bought with them since that purchase. You get a notification saying exactly what was removed. If a dispute is later resolved in our favour, everything it removed comes back automatically.
If this page leaves a billing question unanswered, ask it on the contact page and we will answer it — and, if it was a reasonable question, fix the page so the next person does not have to ask.
